# October 4, 2026: Renamed MCP tools, new read tools

> Oplane MCP tools now use consistent threat_model and security_requirement names, and new read tools let your assistant search and fetch threat models, requirements, workspaces, and organisations.

## Changes

### Renamed MCP tools

Oplane MCP tools now spell out `threat_model` and `security_requirement` the same way in every tool name. The old names stopped working with this release, so update any place where you wrote them down yourself, such as `CLAUDE.md`, `AGENTS.md`, a CI script, or your assistant's list of allowed tools.

| Old name | New name |
| - | - |
| `new_threatmodel` | `new_threat_model` |
| `my_recent_threatmodels` | `my_recent_threat_models` |
| `get_threatmodel` | `get_threat_model` |
| `add_threatmodel_comment` | `add_threat_model_comment` |
| `get_requirement` | `get_security_requirements` |
| `update_requirement_severity` | `update_security_requirement_severity` |
| `search_workspaces` | `list_workspaces` |

The `threatmodel_id` parameter is now `threat_model_id`. If you use the Oplane plugin for Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot CLI, or opencode, update it to the latest version, which calls the new names.

## New features

### Search and fetch your Oplane data from your assistant

New read tools let your AI assistant find threat models, security requirements, workspaces, and organisations by filters such as severity, status, workspace, or date, and then fetch the full records. Together with the `analyze` tool, your assistant can answer questions like "Which critical requirements are still open in the payments workspace?" and link you straight to each one in Oplane.
